Marxism and Marxism-Leninism aren't the same thing.

Lenin's commonality with the modern GOP is the desire to be totalitarian. The Bolsheviks were a minor socialist party and they shut out other socialist parties when they stole power.

Today's Right wing is very Lenin: they like it when the US Treasury gives handouts to the wealthy and the corporations. The "socialism" crocodile tears are part of the ruse. Lenin would be proud of the deceptiveness.
