Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States of America, I have an announcement to make.
We find ourselves at the “throw every piece of bullshit at the vote-suppression wall and hope that sooner or later one of the nazi-thoughts will stick” stage of the effort to eliminate voting rights for select groups of Americans.
The Right is trying everything.
EVERYTHING.
As weird as J.D. Vance’s whole diatribe was — and it was weird, from what I’ve read — the whole thing is just another conversational volley.
Once it falls flat, they’ll lob another chunk of unAmerican nonsense out into the airwaves. And Corporate Media will talk about it as if it deserves to be talked about.
As I was writing my second book, I had many good, long talks with our nation’s Founding Fathers. And believe me: they would be appalled by the modern Right’s shameless attacks.
We got Texas aiming to rescind voting rights.
The Arizona GOP, high on the Big Lie, aren’t disguising their brazen attempts to overturn the 2020 Election.
Georgia GOPers can’t contain their racist hatred of Stacey Abrams. Sorry, fellers. You good ole boys wronged her in the Governor’s race. She responded by organizing a voter drive. Your tears are sad.
And in the media, you got fellas like Klannity and Tucker Carlson getting their armbands in a twist over this issue.
So many initiatives to limit others’ voting rights these days, I see J.D. Vance’s little schtick as another play.
Yeah. A play.
This is all a game to the Right.
That’s what they want you to believe, anyway.
If you have any time or money to donate, voters’ rights groups need your support. I volunteered with SwingLeft before the 2020 election. They’re a good organization with lots of ways to help.
It’s late July. The mid-term election is around fifteen months away. We can do this.
They are working overtime. But we have numbers. That is what terrifies them.
